Opening to the public in 1883, Adelaide Zoo is the second oldest zoo in the nation and one of the state’s most iconic attractions.

Set over eight hectares of beautiful botanical surroundings, the zoo is home to more than 2,500 animals and 250 species of exotic and native mammals, birds, reptiles and fish.
There are lots of animals to see at the Adelaide Zoo. Pictures: Adelaide Zoo Facebook page.

You will feel as if you’re stepping into another world in this vibrant sanctuary, which is the only major metropolitan zoo in Australia to be owned and operated by a conservation-based charity - Zoos SA.

The zoo has a number of daily zoo keepers who hold talks and animal feeds for the visitors.

Enjoy a break in the picnic areas throughout the gardens

Adelaide Zoo is open from 9:30am – 5pm every day of the year, including Christmas and all public holidays.
