Swim with the Sharks

Maybe you’re up for something a little different. How about sharks? In the ocean. With you in a cage. Did we mention the sharks are probably hungry, and that you’ll get to see them chomp down some flesh right before your very eyes?

Still with us? Then this tour may be for you.

Get up close and personal with one of nature's largest and most powerful predators - the great white shark - on a cage diving tour.

You may not want to try this alone - we recommend the tour. Great White sharks often weigh in at more than 3000 kilograms and can grow up to seven metres long.

Get face to face with the sharks on a specialist tour by any of the fantastic local providers. Calypso Star Charters, Adventure Bay Charters and Rodney Fox Expeditions.

Get into the cage! The purpose built cages are safe from the sharks and they offer a great vantage point from which to witness all the teeth. Sharks are usually fed to get them to come over so there’s that to look forwards to as well!

For those not wanting to get wet, you can explore the underwater action from the safety of a glass aqua-submarine.

Perhaps sharks are not your thing. Maybe you’re all for swimming but prefer something a little more playful to share the waves with.

The friendly and playful sea lions are wild but they love to be the star of the show. The best place to go swimming with sea lions is the Eyre Peninsula. The sheltered waters of Boston Bay near Port Lincoln, both Adventure Bay Charters and Calypso Star Charters offer great sea lion swim tours. They’ll duck, roll and dive right around you. You’ll find a similar tour at Baird Bay Ocean Eco Experience, three and half hours from Port Lincoln near Streaky Bay.

Wild Dolphins also call Baird Bay their home. Swim alongside these playful creatures to your hearts content. The Dolphin Sanctuary at Port Adelaide

Kangaroo Island Marine Adventures also has great dolphin experiences as the charter boat explores remote coastal beaches where seals frolic on the beaches.

You can also experience dolphin viewing and swimming just 25 minutes from the Adelaide city centre. Enjoy a glass of sparkling while lounging on the deck of a catamaran, the local dolphins love playing around the boat.

And, they’ll be thankful for all the fish!
